TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tangerang Mayor Arief R Wismansyah was determined to bar Covid-19 patients showing no symptoms or OTG from conducting independent isolation at their homes beginning Thursday, September 17.
“Starting tomorrow, no more OTG is allowed to perform independent isolation at home, but at the government’s facilities,” said Arief in Tangerang, Wednesday, September 16, 2020.
Presently, positive cases in the city are dominated by asymptomatic carriers who are now in self-quarantine.
“Likely, those who are in self-isolation cannot be able to apply health protocols properly because they must have close contact with other family members,” he argued.
According to Arief, the decision was taken given the rising virus transmission, including from family clusters. He presumed that the cases were caused by office workers who carried the virus to the family.
“The virus spreads when workers have lunch together,” said Arief.
Thus, the Mayor appealed to all workers of government or private companies in Tangerang city to refrain from having lunch together in a bid to avoid virus exposure.
The Tangerang city administration has designated isolation venues for Covid-19 asymptomatic patients at the Tangerang Social Protection House (RPS). “We are preparing the place today. Hopefully, it can operate starting tomorrow,” said Arief.
