Jakarta Deputy Gov. Calls for Tighter Health Protocols at Mosques Ahead of PSBB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria has called for mosque managements to tighten its health protocols ahead of the full-scale PSBB social restrictions that are set to be reimposed on Monday, September 14.
“Starting on September 14, each and every house of worship will be closed under [specific restrictions],” the Deputy Governor wrote on Friday.
Riza revealed that the death toll caused by coronavirus infections had been reduced to 2.7 percent with a recovery rate of 78 percent. However, the viral spread across Jakarta continues to soar, which calls for the reimposition of the PSBB.
“We will return back to how we used to do things [in the early days of the pandemic],” he explained. “Houses of worship will remain open but under strict health protocols. However, major mosques visited by people from many regions [will not be allowed to open]. Mosques in residential areas are permitted to operate.”
The Deputy Governor called for Jakartans to always adhere to health protocols, such as wearing face masks, maintaining physical distance, and washing hands.
