TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan calls on the public to maintain the spirit to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the capital city. He asked Jakartans to adhere to all orders of the transitional PSBB or Large-Scale Social Restrictions.
“To suppress various epidemiological indicators of the virus spread, we need to maintain the spirit, remind each other, and carry out rules of the transitional PSBB,” said Anies in his Instagram account @aniesbaswedan on Thursday evening, August 27.
He decided to extend the social restrictions again. This fifth extension period takes effect from August 28 to September 10, 2020.
The governor also demanded the public be more serious in complying with strict health protocols, including wearing face masks, washing hands regularly, and keeping distance.
"Don't leave the house if it is not necessary, all places must limit the capacity to a half, and discipline to practice the health measures,” the former education minister remarked.
Previously, Anies Baswedan said he would not hesitate to take the emergency brake policy if the Covid-19 cases soared. However, he insisted on prolonging the transitional PSBB albeit the city saw increasing cases.
On average, Jakarta recorded 500-600 new confirmed cases per day. The all-time daily hike occurred yesterday, August 27, with an additional 820 infections.
