TEMPO.CO, Bogor - Bogor Mayor Bima Arya planned to allocate a budget for the procurement of free WiFi service at 900 spots to support distance learning. The city’s Foster Family Network Program or Jaga Asa would also focus on the education sector.
“To make it (the free WiFi service) more efficient and to prevent misuse, local officials and the community will jointly conduct the monitoring,” said Bima as quoted from the city’s website on Monday, August 24.
After carrying out unannounced visits to several schools in his region, Bima assessed that the implementation of distance learning was still hindered by various constraints. “Such as the lack of gadgets, limited internet quota, up to limited signal.”
Bima thus appealed to all parties to work together to solve the current education issues. “This is an education emergency,” he said. The city government was preparing measures to deal with the problems.
Previously, Bima along with the internet provider Telkomsel general manager Gamada handed out new internet sim card dubbed Merdeka Belajar (Freedom to Learn) to Bogor State Junior High School (SMPN) 10, Elementary School (SDN) Cipaku, and SDN Genteng. “This aims to support distance learning.”
