TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that within the last two weeks, offices have become new clusters of an increasing number of Covid-19 infection cases. Therefore, the Governor warned businesses to exercise discipline in implementing health protocols, especially concerning 50 percent maximum employee attendance.
"And then implements shifts, alternatively, so there is a break between works," Anies said in an online press conference on Thursday, July 30, 2020.
Anies asserted that the government, along with the National Police and the Indonesian National Army will also apply stringent supervision on every business and public activities in Jakarta. Anies also said that he will issue an official announcement at the Jakarta Government website about the violations conducted by businesses and the following sanctions.
"We will also apply progressive fines to repeat offender businesses that have been warned before," Anies said.
Lastly, Anies requested all business activities that have received permission to operate to be serious in protecting its employees by conducting briefings on health protocol.
"If needed, allocate five minutes, ten minutes every morning to remind all [employees] about health protocol," Anies stated.
Anies also warned that if businesses failed to do so, there will be risks of potential Covid-19 infection. In addition, the company will be forced to close and suffer massive losses.
Previously, the Covid-19 Mitigation Acceleration Task Force recorded 375 individuals in 59 offices in Jakarta that have been infected by Covid-19 as of July 25, 2020.
