New Record; Jakarta Reports 441 New COVID-19 Cases Today

TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta provincial administration announced 441 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, noting a new record of the highest single-day hike since the outbreak.

“The total positive cases to date reached 17,153,” said Ani Ruspitawati, the head of the health resources at the city’s Health Agency, in a written statement today.

During the extended period of the transitional PSBB or large-scale social restriction, the capital city recorded the highest daily rise: 344 new infections on July 8, 359 on July 11, and 404 on July 12. The figures affected the virus positivity rate to 10.5 percent.

As of date, 10,864 patients have been declared recovered, and 758 patients died. Of the total confirmed cases, 1,078 patients are still being treated at hospitals and 4,453 patients are practicing self-quarantine.

The number of suspected patients, meanwhile, hit 1,883. “1,158 of them are being treated at hospitals, and 725 others are under self-isolation,” Ani added.

According to Ani, there are no probable cases at present, while 38 people are still undergoing individual quarantine. Besides, the number of close contact cases is recorded at 5,934 people.

Until July 20, the cumulative number of COVID-19 PCR tests held by the Jakarta administration amounted to 466,569 samples, and that of rapid tests at 280,082.
