Democrat's AHY to Meet Golkar Party Chairman in Political Visit

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Democrat Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) will reportedly hold a meeting with Golkar Party Chairman Airlangga Hartarto this evening on Thursday, June 25. It is said to be a casual meeting to introduce Democrat’s new management.
The meeting is confirmed by the Democrat Party’s head of communication Ossy Dermawan on Wednesday night which will take place at Golkar Party’s headquarters in Slipi, West Jakarta.
According to Ossy, the meeting will be AHY’s first visit to the rivaling party as Chairman and has not confirmed whether the meeting will also talk about the 2020 regional head elections (Pilkada).
AHY, who is the son of Indonesia’s former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), was elected as Democrat Party Chairman on Sunday, March 15 as he was the lone candidate.
Golkar Party Deputy, Nurul Arifin, confirmed that a meeting will take place and texted to Tempo that it is for “silaturahmi” (friendship) reasons just as the previous encounter between Airlangga and SBY on March 5 at the former Democrat Chairman’s house.
