TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan highlighted the rate of Covid-19 transmission in his address for the capital's 439th anniversary today, June 22. Anies said that the effective reproductive rate (Rt) of Covid-19 transmission had declined since the city entered the PSBB transition period.
According to the governor, as of Monday the University of Indonesia's Faculty of Public Health announced that the Rt dropped from 0.99 to 0.98 during the first two weeks of transition.
The decline, he said, shows that Jakarta begins to have control over containment. He also said that there has not been a spike in new cases as many feared.
Anies hopes that the progress will continue and Jakarta can pass this grim challenge. He applauds Jakarta residents who cooperate by staying at home.
However, he stressed that evaluations are necessary as he still receive reports of violations. The evaluation will be done at the end of June.
