TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Starting this week, all employees in the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry building are getting rapid tests for Covid-19. The testing is a preliminary stage for employees' health checks, prior to implementing work activities under new norms amid the pandemic.

"The rapid tests are carried out as an initial screening for preventing Covid-19. The PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test given to those whose rapid tests came out reactive," the ministry's internal Covid-19 task force chief Endang Sutisna said in a written statement, Wednesday, June 3.

The PCR tests for those diagnosed as reactive, Endang said, will be conducted in collaboration with the University of Indonesia, with 20 tests done per day.

Endang emphasized that the rapid tests are mandatory for all employees, including State Civil Apparatus (ASN), non-permanent Employees, and outsourced workers. The testing period started on June 1st.

"We require all employees who are working from the office to take this test, following the predetermined criteria and requirement," Endang said.

In addition to the mandatory rapid test for employees, the Energy Ministry is also preparing measures to prevent Covid-19 transmission in its work area, such as disinfecting the vicinity, providing hand-washing stations, and requiring everyone to wear face masks.
