TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police Chief General Idham Azis confirmed the 2020 Ketupat Operation, a security operation held during Eid al-Fitr or Lebaran holiday, which would end on May 30 was extended until June 7, 2020. Idham reasoned that his side was determined to ensure the preparation for the new normal.
The Operational Assistant and the Traffic Unit Chief had also been instructed to tighten the operation until June 7. “So we can ensure that the situation backs to normal after June 7,” said Idham on Wednesday, May 27.
The decision to prolong the security operation was made following coordination with the national Covid-19 mitigation task force and in consideration of the homecoming return flow to Jakarta, the novel coronavirus red zone.
“If we see traffic density, high traffic flow of [people returning from homecoming or mudik], the operation will be resumed, we will intensify it,” said Idham.
Idham Azis further called for the public’s discipline to the health protocols in order to suppress the Covid-19 transmission. He outlined there are at least four mandatory routines: wear face masks, practice physical distancing, wash hands regularly, and apply a healthy lifestyle.
