Tangerang City Prepares for New Normal

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tangerang City is preparing to enter the era of "new normal" in facing the Covid-19 pandemic. Mayor Arief R. Wismansyah said that the municipality government will enter the period by adhering to rules and regulations provided by the central government.
"I have asked my staff to start making preparations if [the state] applies the new normal policy," the major said during an evaluation meeting in Tangerang, Tuesday, May 26.
Among the "new normal" behaviors and lifestyle during the pandemic include the implementation of standard health protocols to minimize risks of getting infected, such as washing hands with sap regularly, always wearing masks, maintaining physical distances between people, and avoiding crowds.
Tangerang City's regional secretary, Herman Suwarman, said that all officials would be mandated to disseminate rules and provisions of the "new normal" once or if it is enacted.
"We must also prepare the residents," he said, adding that the City will evaluate the implementation of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in the area, which is ending soon.
