TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Covid-19 mitigation task force head Doni Monardo said President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo received a report noting that 81 percent of the public wanted the Large-Scale Social Restrictions or PSBB to end.
“The data is submitted by an institution to Bapak President,” he said after a limited meeting with the president today, May 20.
According to Doni, the decision to revoke or relax the PSBB could not be carried out instantly since the government must follow several indicators set by the WHO.
One of the indicators is the basic reproductive number or R0, which should be less than 1. This means each virus infection causes less than one new case. Meanwhile, the national current R0 on average is estimated at 2.5.
“Several regions have almost reached 1,” Doni added.
He hoped the public would participate in suppressing the R0 scoring by being disciplined in practicing Covid-19 health protocols.
“But it is impossible to lift PSBB if the people are still not abiding by [the order]. I say this again that the compliance rate plays a vital role,” Doni stressed.
