TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Riau Police spokesperson Grand Commissioner Sunarto on Tuesday announced the use of ‘smart helmets' able to let police personnel detect a person’s body temperature aptly dubbed the Robocop N901, which is imported from a company in Shenzen, China.
This police equipment upgrade is hoped to better detect possible COVID-19 cases in Riau. Each Robocop N901 helmet is also equipped with a compact 'action-cam' recording device with live feed capabilities.
“The smart helmet can specifically identify a person’s body temperature in better detail. This is much more effective than using the traditional thermal scanner or thermal gun,” said Sunarto in Tuesday’s press release.
Not only is the Robocop N901 able to detect body temperatures, but the spokesperson said the helmet is also equipped with a plethora of technologies such as augmented reality (AR) installed in its heads up display unit along with other technologies to boost connectivity such as WiFi, Bluetooth, and 5G connectivity.
“Subjects who are experiencing fever or have a high body temperature are able to be screened from five-meters away and can scan each individual within a crowd with 100 percent accuracy,” said Sunarto.
According to him, this technology is intentionally adopted to better equip police personnel guarding entrances into Pekanbaru and other Riau borders to suppress COVID-19 cases.
