TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has again instructed the Office of Presidential Staff (KSP) to conduct a study to change the collective leave of this year’s Eid al-Fitr. The government previously announced new holidays in December 28-31 as the replacement of Eid holidays in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Today, May 4, the head of the national COVID-19 task force, Doni Monardo, informed that the government was considering to move the holidays to the end of July, in conjunction with the Eid al-Adha holidays, which fall on July 30-31.
“The president orders the KSP to do a study. So there are two options of the replacement of Eid collective leave; in the end of July along with Eid al-Adha holidays and in the end of December,” said Doni after joining an online meeting with President Jokowi today, May 4.
On April 9, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy announced that this year’s collective leave days of Eid al-Fitr were pushed to December amid concerns over the spread of COVID-19.
Hence, the joint decree (SKB) inked by the Religious Affairs Minister, the Manpower Minister, and the Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform Minister concerning the 2020 national holidays and collective leave would be amended. The policy noted that Eid al-Fitr holidays fell on May 24-25, 2020.
