TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A team of convalescent plasma researchers from Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) and the University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Medicine hoped COVID-19 patients who have been declared healthy are willing to donate their blood plasma.
“The collected plasma will be used [as part of treatments] for patients developing severe symptoms,” said one of the team researchers Robert Sinto in a written statement on Thursday, April 30.
The requirements to be a donor are males aged over 18 years old and have been recovered from the new coronavirus, which is confirmed from the two negative swab test results.
Robert explained that plasma donations could help critical patients. “We fully expect [recovered patients] will help us treat patients in severe condition,” he underlined.
The virus survivors interested to donate can call William via 081219973852, Robert announced.
As of April 29, 2020, Indonesia has 9,771 COVID-19 cases. Of the total figure, 1,391 patients have been declared cured, and 784 patients succumbed to the pneumonia-like disease.
