TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 31 foreign citizens, members of Tablighi Jamaat, at Al Muttaqien Mosque, in Sunter - Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, were tested positive for COVID-19 via the rapid tests.
“At present, there are 31 congregations [who contract the novel coronavirus]. During the first batch of the rapid test, two people found out to be positive, 24 people in the second batch, and five people in the third batch,” said North Jakarta Mayor Sigit Wijatmoko in Jakarta, Wednesday, April 22.
The results were obtained as the city conducted mass rapid tests on hundreds of foreigners staying at Al Muttaqien Mosque.
However, data on the jamaat members could not be confirmed yet. All people who were tested positive were brought to Athlete’s Dorm Emergency Hospital in Kemayoran, while the healthy ones were put under self-isolation at the prayer house.
“Health Agency intensively monitors the health of the congregations,” Sigit underlined.
Al Muttaqien Mosque is one of the transit areas for Tablighi Jamaat congregations who hailed from various countries, namely India, Pakistan, Thailand, Bangladesh, and others. From there, they traveled to many regions of Indonesia to study and spread Islamic knowledge.
