TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government has distributed 92,269 social assistance packages consisting of household staples to poor and poverty prone families affected by the enactment of the Large-scale Social Distancing (PSBB) policy in Jakarta, today.

“On Tuesday, April 21, a total of 92,269 packages were distributed,” said the Jakarta COVID-19 Task Force member Ani Ruspitawati, in an online press conference at the City Hall, on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

Ani continued that the assistance was distributed directly to the front doors of Jakarta’s poor and poverty prone families in 18 sub-districts in South, East, and Central Jakarta.

The household staples included in the care package were five kilograms of rice, two small cans of sardine, 0.9 liters of cooking oil, 2 packs of biscuits, cloth masks and soaps. The packages were prepared by Perumda Pasar Jaya with tight packaging to keep items hygienic, and delivered with the aid of security personnel.

Ani explained that the 92,000 care packages distributed today are part of the Jakarta's plan to distribute social assistance to a total of 1.2 million poor and poverty prone families in the capital.

Furthermore, the Jakarta Provincial Government has also set up a call center providing information related to the social assistance program, at number 4265115.
