TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir reminds the people that during the period of large-scale social restriction (PSBB), they are still able to shop groceries normally. He, therefore, asks public to avoid panic buying when they are shopping.
"Shop calmly, don't take too long and gather in crowd. But there's no need to be in a rush too, especially until practicing panic buying,” Erick said on his Instagram post on Friday, April 10, calling on the people to wear a mask and maintain physical distancing while shopping, in order to decrease the potential of coronavirus transmission.
Erick uploaded an animation on his social media account that shows shopping tips and manners in a shopping center amid the virus pandemic. The video shows that people only go out for important matters, such as grocery shop.
It is better to prepare a shopping list to fulfill the basic need for a week. Next, avoid the time when many people come to shop to prevent physical contact with other visitors. Not to forget to bring hand sanitizer all the time.
Clean the shopping cart first by using disinfectant and only touch the items you will buy to reduce the potential of virus transmission. If possible, use non-cash payment at the cashier. At home, immediately throw away the plastic or outer packaging, or spray them with disinfectant and clean the organic foodstuff.
Erick Thohir says it is important to be discipline when shopping amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan announced the enforcement of the large-scale social restriction in Jakarta to suppress the wider spread of coronavirus or Covid-19. PSBB Jakarta takes into effect on April 10-23 and it will be evaluated to take further decision.
