TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan stated that the large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) order applies to all sectors, except eleven essential ones catering to the basic needs of the public amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier on late Thursday, April 9, Anies issued a Gubernatorial Decree No. 33/2020 concerning large-scale social restrictions in a bid to accelerate the virus containment efforts.
"The sectors include offices of both regional and central governments; offices of diplomatic representatives and international organizations; and state and regional-owned Enterprises," said Anied during a live broadcast on the tight physical distancing policy at the City Hall in Jakarta, Thursday, April 9.
State and regional-owned enterprises that will be fully operational are those helping the pandemic mitigation and/or catering to the basic needs of the public by complying with the regulations set by related ministries and/or Jakarta administration.
Business and private companies or organizations in the following sectors will also be excluded:
- Health
- Food/beverages
- Energy
- Communication and information technology
- Finance
- Logistics
- Hotels
- Constructions
- Strategic industry
- Basic services, public utilities, and industries tapped as a national vital object and certain objects
- Daily needs retailers
In addition, local and international community organizations (NGOs) related to disaster mitigation or social sectors are allowed to be fully operational as well.
Anies Baswedan further underlined that the large-scale social restrictions consisted of 28 articles overseeing all activities in Jakarta, starting from economic, educational, social, cultural, to religious affairs activities.
The PSBB Jakarta, therefore, takes effect on Friday, April 10, 2020, and applies for the next 14 days.
