TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government spokesman for the coronavirus outbreak mitigation, Achmad Yurianto, confirmed more new cases of the virus disease in Indonesia as of Friday, March 27.
"There is a significant increase of 153 new Covid-19 cases. This shows that the transmission of [the virus infection] exists in the community, bringing the total to 1,046 cases. More 11 patients have been recovered, so the total is 46. And more 9 death tolls, so it becomes 87 fatalities," said Yurianto.
Therefore, Yurianto reminded the public to maintain physical distance and be disciplined not to leave home, as well as maintain hand hygiene.
According to Yurianto, young people have great potential as the virus carriers, and so they could transmit the disease to parents or elders unconsciously.
"Young people who seem healthy in some cases can actually be carriers of SARS-CoV-2 to elders. So when they get infected and not isolated themselves, this can be a fundamental problem that leads to rapid widespread of the virus," Yurianto underlined.
