TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two residents of Depok, West Java, suddenly took public’s attention after the two were named as Indonesia’s COVID-19 coronavirus patients number 01 and 02. This has attracted unwanted attention not only to the patients but also their neighbors.
This situation has caused stress on one of the patient’s neighbors, Anis Hidayat, who eventually spoke up against the pressure caused by the unwanted attention.
“That is enough!! Residents here have the right to feel safe and secure in our own neighborhood,” said Anis in a statement Tempo obtained on Wednesday, March 4.
The Depok resident gave Tempo permission to cite the statement that has spread in social media. “Please do. Thank you.”
Moreover, Anis Hidayat maintained that one of the two coronavirus patients is a known local figure as the person is known as a humble, friendly, and sociable towards their neighbors.
“So please stop judging the patient. Stop spreading photos of the patient. Pray that they can quickly recover and return to their daily activities again with us,” said Anis.
