TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the government is ready to increase the Health Ministry's budget for treating people who are infected with the novel coronavirus known as Covid-19. Sri said her ministry fully supports the policy.
"We will conduct studies, and the course we will fully support it," the minister said at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 3.
The government will cover the costs of treating Covid-19 patients as regulated by the Health Ministry through a decree signed on February 4.
"All forms of financing related to prevention, as referred to in the second dictum, will be taken from the Health Ministry's budget, regional governments' budgets, and or other legitimate sources of funds in accordance with statutory provisions," the second dictum of the decree said.
Prior to approving a budget increase, Sri Mulyani said, she will run-over the programs proposed by Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto.
"We will review the programs, the measures needed, and the budget. The Health Ministry will formulate the program and we will look at it," she said.
