TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Director-General of Corrections (Dirjen PAS) Sri Puguh Budi Utami said that 29 prisoners of terrorism had vowed allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia from January to February 2020. "They expressed an oath of loyalty to the Republic of Indonesia throughout 2020," Utami said in her office on Thursday, February 27, 2020.
As many as 29 terrorism prisoners came from 4 prisons: 13 from Class IIA Prison Pasir Putih Nusakambangan, 9 from Class IIA Narcotics Prison Gunung Sindur, 5 from class III Prison Gunung Sindur, and 2 from Class IIA Special Prison Karanganyar.
Utami said that until December 2019, the Directorate General of PAS had succeeded in making 116 terrorism prisoners pledge allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia. This year Utami said they are targeting 48 terrorism prisoners to vowed. The amount was obtained based on the assessment of the Directorate General of prison for terrorism inmates. "If we approach them more intensively, we are sure that they will have a sense of nationalism in 2020."
Utami said that in the declaration of the Directorate General of National Disaster Resolution, terrorism prisoners asked to sing the national anthem Indonesia Raya in front of guests. "During this time it may not be easy, we are very grateful to finally they can do it." She hopes more terrorist inmates who pledge allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia.
