Alfamart to Open 1,000 New Outlets This Year

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Retail Issuer PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk. (AMRT) or Alfamart is targeting to operate 1,000 new Alfamart outlets throughout 2020, especially in a number of potential areas outside of Java.
Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Director and Corporate Secretary, Tomin Widian, said that in 2020 the company will open 1,000 new Alfamart outlets. With 14,310 AMRT outlets already in operation by the end of 2019, the number would likely to increase to 15,310 outlets.
"We are targeting to open 1,000 new Alfamart outlets and (we are going to) focus on potential areas, for example outside of Java," he said on Friday, February 16, 2020.
The target of adding 1,000 Alfamart outlets in 2020 will exceed the growth in 2019 of 631 outlets from a prior 13,679 outlets by the end of 2018.
Tomin conveyed the company's strategy to continue to grow and capture the existing market potential by clustering stores according to their location. Thus, each store provides the needs that match the consumers in the surrounding community.
On the other hand, the company continues to develop its digital business primarily to expand the distribution channels of consumers in big cities. The digital platform also provides shopping needs for various groceries. "With these various strategies, we view business growth in 2020 to be positive," he added.
According to the September 2019 financial statements, Alfamart recorded revenue of Rp 54.11 trillion, an increase of 9.08 percent year on year (yoy) from the previous Rp 49.6 trillion. Meanwhile, net profit surged 94 percent yoy to Rp 650.23 billion from the net profit in September 2018, valued at Rp 335.17 billion.
