TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government has received a recommendation for the Monas revitalization project. The recommendation was obtained after the Commission for the Direction of Development of the Medan Merdeka Area gave the project a green light.
Tempo monitored on Monday morning, 10th of February 2020, project workers had started the construction. Some vehicles and heavy equipments were also seen operating.
In the middle of the project area, which will be used as a plaza, workers are seen installing the area with conblocks. While on the side of the area some trees and small plants were being planted. A small pillar for a flagpole foundation was also seen under construction.
The Monas revitalization project was halted on January 24, 2020, because the Jakarta Provincial Government has not yet received approval from the Directing Committee.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that the Monas revitalization project has resumed after the issuance of a permit from the Ministry of State Secretariat as the Directing Committee.
"It [the Monas revitalization project] has already begun. It will be done same as before," said Anies Baswedan when met at Glodok, West Jakarta, Saturday, February 8, 2020.
