TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director of Indonesian citizen protection and legal aid at Foreign Affairs Ministry, Judha Nugraha, stated that 78 Indonesian crews at Japan's Diamond Princess cruise ship are in a healthy condition.
They are currently performing the quarantine process for 14 days based on the international health procedure in anticipating the coronavirus.
"All of the Indonesian citizens are healthy," he said in a press release on Saturday, Feb. 8, adding that the Indonesian Embassy had contacted the Indonesian crews to check their condition and provide the necessary assistance.
The cruise side also provided logistical needs, as well as phone service and free internet. "So the crews and passengers can communicate with their families," said Judha.
He explained that Japanese authorities quarantine the Diamond Princess cruise at the waters of Yokohama, Japan after a former passenger was diagnosed with the coronavirus in Hong Kong.
Everyone on board was then tested for the virus that originated in Wuhan.
Based on the examination result, 41 passengers were tested positive for coronavirus and they were transported and isolated to a hospital in Kanagawa Prefecture.
