TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) fraction of the Jakarta Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD) is grateful that Governor Anies Baswedan has begun replanting trees in the National Monument (Monas) area, as a replacement of those that were cut down due to the Monas revitalization project.
“We are very grateful Mr. Anies wants to plant trees again at Monas," said Chief of the PDIP Faction, Gembong Warsono, at the Jakarta DPRD, on Wednesday 5 February 2020.
Gembong commended Anies for realizing his mistake of cutting down 191 trees during the revitalization of Monas. Gembong hopes that the replanting of trees will help to increase the open green areas in Monas.
“Yes, of course, by planting trees there will be more open green areas," he said.
Previously, Jakarta Regional Secretary Saefullah has said that the replanting of trees had begun since last Sunday. The replanted trees he said serves as the compensation for cutting down 191 trees in the Monas revitalization project.
Saefullah mentioned that currently 300 trees are being replanted in various corners of Monas. "Around 300 trees," he said.
