Police Chief Commits to Follow Through Novel Baswedan Case

7 January 2020 12:10 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Inspector General Chief of Police, Nana Sudjana, ensures that he will follow through with the acid attack case on Corruption Eradication Committee’s senior investigator, Novel Baswedan. “I will follow through with this case, and as of now, we are still investigating,” said Nana in the Bareskrim Building, South Jakarta, on Tuesday the 7th of January 2020.

Nana, who has just been officiated as the Jakarta Metro Chief of Police, calls for more time in understanding the motives behind Novel’s case. He expects to be fastidiously updated in any development of the case by the technical team of investigators assigned to the case. “I have just been in (position), so I am asking for more time, as this is a highly technical issue,” said the former West Nusa Tenggara Chief of Police.

Following the apprehending of two perpetrators behind the acid attack, the police will finally recall Novel back in the investigation as a witness, on Tuesday, the 7th of January 2020, in the Jakarta Police Headquarters. The 8 hour investigation attempted to extract information on Novel Baswedan’s relation with the suspects.

Novel Baswedan has denied any claims of association with the suspects, both of whom are active police officers. He has also dismissed any claims suggesting that the motive behind the case resulted from a personal issue. “The attempt behind the acid attack is related with my duties in KPK,” said Novel.
