Jakarta Mass Wedding on New Year's Eve

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta administration held a collective wedding on New Year's Eve and participated by 633 couples or Jakarta residents. South Jakarta Mayor, Marullah Matali, responded positively toward the event organized annually by the provincial government.
At least there were 160 couples of South Jakarta residents joining the mass wedding last night, according to the Mayor.
"Congratulations, hope you are granted with great blessing; happy married life," he said in Dukuh Atas area, Central Jakarta, January 1, 2020.
Marullah hoped they would give a positive impact on the social environment, saying that a good family would create a good society and then a prosperous social environment.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the collective wedding was an annual event held by the capital city administration. This event was held as an attempt to officially register the residents of the provincial government in state document and so they would own a marriage certificate.
