Maintaining Defense Partnership, Minister Prabowo Heads to China

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto is set to kickstart his three-day work-visit to Beijing, China, on Sunday. This marks his inaugural visit to the country as a defense minister.
His arrival was welcomed by Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun, the embassy’s defense attache Brig. Gen. Kuat Budiman, Directorate of Chinese International Military Cooperation Maj. Gen. Song Tanchao, and a number of China’s Ministry of National Defense.
“The state-visitation to Beijing is planned to last for a total of three days,” said Ambassador Djauhari.
Prabowo is scheduled to meet the Chinese People's Liberation Army Wei Fenghe and China’s Liberation Army Force’s General Xu Qiliang. He will also be attending the State Administration for Science, Technology, and Industry for National Defense (SASTIND).
In his inaugural visit to China as defense minister, Prabowo Subianto is also expected to discuss attempts to maintain partnerships in the field of defense, either bilaterally or regionally, to continue both country’s efforts in modernizing defense systems.
