TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) member from the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) faction, William Aditya Sarana, responded to the verdict made by the DPRD’s Honorary Board that deemed him guilty of committing a minor violation of exposing the city’s irregular budget plan.
Through his Twitter account, William said he was not afraid of the verdict, which effectively said that he had violated the institution’s code of conduct, and would stick to his position of continuing to push Governor Anies Baswedan’s Jakarta 2020 budget plan.
“That has been my stand and the PSI party's, whatever happens,” said William on Friday.
The series of tweets also blasted the Jakarta administration’s plan to host the Formula E race, saying the event is a waste of the city’s budget.
“PSI regrets the regional budget’s efficiency in sectors such as the LRT project from Rp 1.7 trillion to Rp 577 billion; school rehab from Rp 2.57 trillion cut to 1.5 trillion; GOR was also slashed 300 billion,” he said.
In terms of the DPRD regulation William violated, the Honorary Board’s chairman, Achmad Nawawi, said that one aspect he violated was the aspect of proportionality from the DPRD code of conduct that allowed members to remain critical but in a fair, professional, and proportional fashion.
“Yes, his actions may be deemed unproportional as William is not a Commission E member and does not oversee issues regarding education,” said Achmad.
