Police Chief Idham Azis Tight-lipped on Novel Baswedan Case

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The newly-inaugurated National Police Chief General Idham Azis balked at responding to questions about the development of the case investigation on the acid attack against Novel Baswedan.
After giving statements related to his inauguration as Police Chief at State Palace, Friday, November 1, Idham was bombarded with questions by reporters regarding the case development. However, he pointed at the police spokesman Insp. Gen. M. Iqbal and hurriedly left the site.
“Someone is waiting for him,” said Iqbal.
The working period of the police’s technical team tasked to uncover the terror attack against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) senior investigator ended on Thursday, Oct. 31. Several parties urged the team that was initially led by Idham to announce their findings to the public.
Formed in early August, the team that is consisted of 120 police personnel was given three months to disclose the attack perpetrator.
Iqbal explained that Idham would instruct the new head of the police’s criminal investigation department (Bareskrim) to complete the case of Novel Baswedan immediately.
