TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister, Basuki Hadimuljono, revealed President Jokowi’s mandate for members of his ministry to strictly avoid acts of corruption.
“The President’s number one order is to avoid corruption. I often say that the PUPR Ministry’s job is to spend the country’s budget for infrastructure developments,” said Basuki Hadimuljono in a written statement on Thursday, Oct. 31.
The Minister also called for his colleagues to maintain credibility and trust, as he deemed both of those aspects are more difficult to retain. He also suggests members of his ministry live a non-lavish life as a means to prevent any form of corruption.
Apart from retelling President Jokowi’s order, Minister Basuki reminded that each rupiah spent from the PUPR Ministry must contribute to Indonesia’s economy. “But we must be wise in spending the state budget,” he said.
