Surya Paloh Talks about Opposition After Meeting with PKS

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the National Democrat Party (NasDem) Surya Paloh talked about the possibility of being the government’s opposition, after his meeting with Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) president Sohibul Iman today, Oct. 30.
Paloh maintains that the door towards opposition is always open despite the current political condition.
“This is not about the possibility of going against the government or not. Anything is possible,” said Surya Paloh at the PKS headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The NasDem chairman said that PKS could possibly take a contrasting route by joining the government, even though PKS is currently known for its insistence on remaining outside of the government.
As of his meeting with the PKS today, Surya Paloh said NasDem does not blindly support the government and believes that a healthy democracy needs checks and balances. Meanwhile, PKS president Sohibul Iman said the meeting today is limited to comparing two political party’s understanding.
