Gojek, Tokopedia Thank Jokowi for Support

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The support provided by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla for the development of the digital industry was apparent, and gained high recognition from Gojek and Tokopedia.
Gojek Chief of Corporate Affairs Nila Marita, said that the support was provided in a number of occasion by President Jokowi and his cabinet ministers, including the Communication and Informatics Ministry.
Nila asserted that Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara has successfully implemented the digital business development strategy in the bureaucratic level.
"The government also did not constrain innovation made by startup, instead [the government] supported it so it can grow. One of the example, the government applied the sandbox concept. Startup are being allowed to grow while they are small, and when they have upgraded their scale [of business] then the government will be present to apply rules and licenses," Nila said on Friday, October 18, 2019.
Nila hoped that in the future, President Jokowi will be able to continue to develop the potential of domestic startup companies so it can have a social impact and can support national economic growth.
Separately, Vice President of Public Policy and Government Relations of Tokopedia Astri Wahyuni, added that the Jokowi-JK government's focus on developing infrastructures such as toll roads, electricity, and internet access has allowed Tokopedia to reach out to 97 percent of the districts in Indonesia.
"The spirit of collaboration is also apparent in the regional level, we worked with governor, regents, and mayors to support the development of digital economy. Starting from ease of regional tax payment and the development of the public through technology," Astri added.
Furthermore, Astri said that the government's vision for the future to develop human resources is considered to be in line with Tokopedia's mission.
"We are also focusing on developing Indonesia's best talents through cooperation with numerous universities. This year, we are 10-years old. Tokopedia has transformed into a superecosystem," Astri stated.
