TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Democrat Party secretary-general Andi Arief said that his party would not propose its cadre including Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) to be a minister in President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s cabinet.
“In principles, we do not propose names. [But] Democrat Party will provide any name if Jokowi demands our cadres as his minister,” said Andi Arief to Tempo, Thursday, October 10.
Andi said that his party has different views on the formation of the cabinet. The party established by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono does not set requirements for either the people or program aiming to get closer to the government.
“Because programs that will be executed later are Jokowi’s, so it is Jokowi who will make the choice,” Andi added.
However, ten days prior to the presidential inauguration ceremony, Andi claimed there is no offer of ministerial seats to the party. “Even so, Democrat Party will continuously support the result of people’s votes for the next five years, whether there will be no minister from Democrat,” he remarked.
