TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) is set to facilitate the return of a large number of people back to Wamena. These people are currently taking refuge across a number of regions in Papua following the riots in Wamena.
“We will facilitate them with the Air Force’s Hercules aircraft,” said TNI Commander Hadi Tjahjanto in his visit to a refugee camp on Wednesday.
The refugee camp visit was attended by the TNI Commander, Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law, and Human Rights Wiranto, Police Chief General Tito Karnavian, Health Minister Nila F. Moeloek, and Social Minister Agus Gumiwang.
As previous reports state, several deadly riots broke in Wamena last week that eventually forced a large number of people to take refuge in other regions in Papua. Many also opted to return to their hometown outside of Papua.
