Palace Affirms President Jokowi's Second Inauguration on Oct. 20

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung has affirmed the schedule of the presidential inauguration of Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Ma’ruf Amin remains on Sunday, October 20, 2019. He rebuffed issues saying that Jokowi would like to hold the event a day earlier.
Pramono underlines that Jokowi acknowledges state administration. Hence, his inauguration will take place according to the schedule designated by the General Election Commission (KPU).
“Because the period term of DPR and presidency is fixed for five years. [The event] cannot be held a day earlier or a day after,” he said.
The issue about Jokowi demanding his second inauguration to be held earlier as the president is first echoed by Pro-Jokowi chairman, Budi Ari Setiadi. Budi did not deny there still fears the possibility of a party willing to obstruct the inauguration ceremony of the president and vice president for the period of 2019-2024.
Responding to Budi’s remarks, Pramono asserted that Budi did not represent the Palace.
