TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani acknowledged the series of protests held by students, high school and university levels, that lasted for the past several days as a dynamic way of having their aspirations heard.
She maintained that expressing aspirations toward the government or legislators are acts that are protected under the national corridor.
However, the minister asked for demonstrators to express their opinions within the legal corridor and avert from anarchy.
“I consider these dynamics as a healthy [form of expression] and is good for Indonesia in the future. However, it would be regrettable once the protests end up with anarchic tendencies,” Sri said on Tuesday, October 1.
Series of rally staged by students and activists in several regions in Indonesia to protest several bills and KPK Law revision. The demonstration on September 23-24 turned to clash with the security forces. On Wednesday, September 25, the rally also turned to riot until the early morning of the next day.
