Jokowi Attends DPR, DPD Members Inauguration

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended the oath-taking ceremony for elected members of the House of Representatives (DPR), the Regional Representative Council (DPD), and People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) for the 2019-2024 period. Jokowi arrived at the Houses of Parliament 09:15 to witness the inauguration.
Before going to Senayan, Jokowi presided over a ceremony to commemorate the Pancasila Day in the Pancasila Sakti Monument in East Jakarta.
The DPR oath-taking ceremony were led by its acting speaker, who is currently the oldest member, 80-year-old Abdul Wahab Dalimunthe from the Democrat Party; and its youngest member, 23-year-old Hillary Brigita Lasut from the NasDem Party.
The pledging ceremony for elected DPD members were led by its oldest member and youngest member as well Sabam Sirait (82) and Jialyka Maharani (22).
The same mechanism was carried out when taking the oath of the new MPR members led by Sabam Sirait and Hillary Brigitta Lasut.
A number of Working Cabinet Ministers attended the inauguration, including Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Panjaitan, Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo, and Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi.
The 2019-2024 Vice President elect Ma'ruf Amin was also present.
