Magnitude 5.3 Earthquake Jolts West Papua's Tambrauw

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 shook Tambrauw Regency, West Papua Province, on Saturday at 12:42 local time. The quake was not potential to a tsunami.
Geophysics station of BMKG Sorong stated that the epicenter was 57 km North-East of Tambrauw Regency at the coordinate of 0.27 South Latitude and 132.43 East Longitude. The hypocenter was at 10 km.
Based on the epicenter and the hypocenter, the quake was identified as shallow which occurred due to local faults activity. The tremor was felt in Tambrauw area.
There have been no reports of damages caused by the earthquake and it did not show the potential of a tsunami.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) called on the public to remain calm and vigilant and not be affected by issues that cannot be accounted for.
