TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State electricity firm PLN is offering incentives for electric vehicle (EV) users, including the free of charge for electric power capacity upgrade.
For electric bike users, the firm will provide a discount of 75 percent and 30 percent tariff cut should they charge the fleet at night. The promotion is valid until the end of this year.
The firm’s general manager Ikhsan Asaad said the electricity tariff will be set at Rp1,640 per kWh, but related stakeholders are still discussing the matter.
The discount, he added, aimed at attracting the public to use electric-based vehicles.
“The tariff will be 30 to 40 percent cheaper than the fuel price. We cooperate with other SOEs too,” said Ikhsan, Wednesday, September 4.
As for the electric bus, Ikhsan said his side had talked with PT Transportasi Jakarta or TransJakarta to arrange the electricity tariff. He said a lower rate will be provided for the charging at night.
PLN is set to build five fast-charging stations, one ultrafast-charging station, and 10 normal-charging stations across Jakarta this year. “They will be launched on October 27, 2019, in line with the electricity day,” he said.
Ikhsan mentioned his company and Jakarta administration have discussed strategic locations for the charging stations, such as in Monas and HI Roundabout.
