TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan says one essential topic in his meeting with the state-electricity company PLN acting-president director Sripeni Inten Cahyani is the firm’s future plan to build a submerged underwater cable from Sumatra to Java Island.
“It was once canceled. I said it’s great [to build it], go ahead with the plan,” said Luhut on Wednesday, August 14.
PLN also expressed interest to add the number of underground cables within the next five years to fix the current problem of hanging disorganized electricity cables.
Responding to this, Minister Luhut Pandjaitan reminded PLN to focus on its electric supply following the massive Java power outage and to avoid involvement in too many projects before the power supply is back to normal.
“I told [PLN] to not be involved in too many electricity construction projects, let that be the gateway for the private sector,” said Luhut who also revealed the major blackout is being thoroughly audited by the government.
