TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said that Presidential Regulation concerning electric cars will be released shortly.
“Inshallah,” she said after the meeting with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in Jakarta Presidential Palace, Thursday, July 25.
Minister Sri explained the policy will be passed in support for the automotive industry, especially electric-powered vehicles. “We do not only support from the automotive sector but also the supply chain, such as batteries. The policy will stipulate it,” she added.
According to the Minister, should there is a presidential regulation on the ecosystem of the electric industry, there will be government regulation in light of ways to advance the industry.
“There are various treatment or incentives, such as the revised amount of the luxury tax (PPnBM), as well as type of vehicles eligible for the incentive based on the emission,” she outlined.
While waiting for the policy ratification by President Jokowi, Minister Sri said that her staffers will start drafting Finance Ministerial Regulation as a derivative policy.
Meanwhile, the Industry Ministry ensured the tax incentive of PPnBM will only be effective for electric cars produced in the country.
