TEMPO.CO, Bogor - Bogor Regent Ade Yasin asserted that she will forcibly close a factory that is found emitting waste to Cileungsi River.
“We have warned them many times, even several companies had been reported and tried. But there was no deterrent effect,” said Ade to Tempo, Monday, July 22.
The regent explained the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) will be assigned to trace all companies polluting the river.
“If a company is discovered to have disposed of waste, while it had been processed, warned, and so on, [it will] be closed down,” she asserted.
Ade made the statement after receiving reports about the condition of Cileungsi River. “The authority must be affirmed on this matter,” she underlined.
Previously, Bogor Environment Agency head, Pandji Ksatriyadji, re-took water samples from the river after the river condition changed on Sunday, July 21. “The sampling test will take 14 days to find out the water content,” he said on Sunday, July 21.
Pandji could not ensure yet whether the river was polluted again by factory waste. “We cannot jump into a conclusion yet,” he added.
However, if the test shows that Cileungsi River is contaminated by factory waste, the firm will be processed based on Law No. 32 of 2009 concerning environment protection and management.
“Just like in the previous years, we will impose sanctions such as business closure or even criminal sanctions,” he concluded.
