TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hendardi, a member of the fact-finding team (TGPF) assigned to uncover Novel Baswedan’s attacker said the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) senior investigator had demanded unfulfillable requirements as he was asked for leads to the case.
Hendardi recalled that in the six months tenure as a TGPF member, the team only met Novel twice with one of it being an “informal meeting.”
Despite this, Hendardi asserts that Novel Baswedan was completely cooperative during the meetings. “He was cooperative in general, as he was willing to be interviewed. But he would often demand the formation of the President’s TGPF when asked what he would like. He gave us impossible requirements [to fulfill],” said Hendardi on Wednesday.
However, Novel Baswedan did not just mention about his case and also requested the police to solve the cases of violence that other KPK employees experienced, to which Hendardi argued the requests had exceeded the team’s competency.
“Another example was that we were asked to solve other cases of violence from other KPK employees as a requirement. But that’s not what we were mandated to do. It’s understandable since the request came from a survivor, but don’t demand that from us,” he continued.
Up to this day on July 17, TGPF has yet announced the results of the investigation, whether it be the attackers or intellectual actors.
