TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Ignasius Jonan said the total development cost for the LNG Lapangan Abadi project in Masela block at Maluku will cost between USD 18.5 billion to USD 19.8 billion.
“This is the largest foreign investment since 1968 and East Indonesia’s symbol of global development after Freeport Indonesia,” said Jonan on Wednesday after reporting the project’s plan of development (PoD) to President Jokowi at the Merdeka Palace.
Minister Jonan also said the project will provide work opportunities for 30,000 workers in total and thousands more for the construction of the petrochemical industry.
In the meeting, President Jokowi reportedly asked for Jonan to commit as what the PoD states, maximize local contents, and develop local human resources as the president mentioned to President and CEO of Inpex Corporation Takayuki Ueda.
