TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police strongly denies the involvement of Metro Jaya Police Chief Comm. Gen. Mochamad Iriawan in the acid attack on Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan.
Police’s response is in response to a police questioning by its joint investigation team (TGPF) on Iriawan in an attempt to uncover more information regarding the case, says Police Spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo.
According to Dedi, the questioning was only aimed to extract information as Iriawan was the Metro Jaya Police Chief at the time of the unfortunate attack.
“It was an opportunity to clarify information regarding the investigation process, from the start to what we know of currently,” said Dedi at his office on Monday.
Iriawan’s questioning itself will only be documented in a written report and not in the institution’s official investigation report or BAP.
The TGPF claims to have questioned three police generals for its investigation, even though their identities remain a secret.
