TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Based on the study on air pollution in Jakarta, the best time to go jogging outdoor in the city is from 3 to 5 PM. This is considered as the average time when the capital has the best air quality.
The leaded fuel eradication committee (KPBB) director, Ahmad Syafrudin, revealed the study result during a discussion about electric buses in Jakarta, Sunday, June 23.
According to him, he could determine the range of air quality in accordance with the research conducted by the United States’ Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) in 2013.
“There is a methodology factor, such as wind speed, humidity, temperature, and so on,” Ahmad said.
Thus, the research amended public opinion that the air quality in Jakarta was healthier in the morning or night. Ahmad underlined the number of vehicles operating in the morning and night did not reduce the air pollution rate.
On the other hand, the study showed, “when there is no activity on the land surface, pollution soaring up to 2.5-3 kilometers will return to the land.”
According to the World’s Air Quality Index, Jakarta’s air quality has reached an unhealthy level. Children and adults, as well as those who suffer respiratory disease, are recommended to avoid outside activities for a long time. While kids and people, in general, are suggested to limit their outdoor time.
