TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Constitutional Court (MK) has decided that 15 fact witnesses and 2 expert witnesses may be presented during the presidential election dispute trials, according to MK spokesperson, Fajar Laksono.
"Fifteen witnesses and two expert witnesses from each party," said Fajar in MK building on Monday, June 17, 2019.
Fajar explained that the second hearing will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019. The hearing agenda will be to examine the witnesses and gather expert opinions of the applicant, followed by the defendant, and other related parties including the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu). The related party in the trial would be the legal team of presidential candidate pair Joko Widodo and Ma'ruf Amin.
Fajar mentioned that each party could ask for more witnesses to the panel of judges during a trial. The judges will then decide whether it is necessary or not.
The national campaign team of Prabowo - Sandiaga claimed to have prepared witnesses for the trials who would strengthen their allegation on the structure, systematic, and massive fraud of the 2019 presidential election.
The campaign team deputy head Priyo Budi Santoso said on Saturday, June 15, that their witnesses would provide surprising testimonies.
